The Chair’s Where? Beachport, South Australia
Limestone Coast splendour
The Limestone Coast of South Australia is really a wonderful destination to go to.
Beautiful sandy beaches, deep cliffs and rocky outcrops, blowholes, caves and being at the end of the world famous Coonawarra wine cellar makes this a'bucket list' location.
Proximity helps, as both Melbourne and Adelaide are a comfy and drive-able distance from this particular locale. The Limestone Coast extends for two or three hundred kilometres, so never fear you will get crowded in, or lose out on a place.
OK, so you have picked up a hire vehicle and created plans to explore the Limestone Coast region. Why not flip"getting there" into"an adventure"? Wineries, antique stores, arts and crafts boutiques will all compete for your attention as you drive to a destination.
Ensure you stop and indulge in some of these tasks. Have a look at the roadside vegetable and fruit stalls, the meat create stalls and lots more.
The beauty of Beachport
Fantastic question this. And with little if any hesitation on this particular trip I picked Beachport.
Beachport is just one of the iconic Limestone Coast cities steeped in history but with a flavour and vibe well and truly place within this decade.
The city is flanked by pristine all-natural attractions, is a half an afternoon drive from Adelaide, and only a bit more out of Melbourne.
The city is of particular appeal to visits by solos, couples, families and extended classes.
OK, so what was a number of my fun while at Beachport?
The Jetty -- more than three quarters of a kilometre long, that this wooden jetty is the 2nd longest in South Australia. Bear in mind that if you walk out you've got to walk back -- all up a 1.5km plus stroll! Might come back somewhat hungry or thirsty? Which brings me to...
The Jetty Café -- situated directly opposite the jetty entrance and a truly wonderful place to get a well deserved meal and beverage. I ate there twice and was impressed with the brekky burger. . I mean, anything with bacon, egg, mushrooms, hollandaise and a hash brown, cannot be bad. But breakfast.
The Bar -- only 1 bar in Beachport also it's a place well worth your time. Good cold beverages, an excellent wine list including some local Coonawarra favorites, along with a great selection of lunches and dinners. For people who like to have a fast punt there is the TAB, Keno and Pokies available at this place.
Like everything old? Then take a look at the Old Wool and Grain Store and also the National Trust Museum -- dating from 1879 and almost 140-years-old. Authentic background.
Where to motor? OK, so jump back in the car and travel to Rivoli Bay, Lake George or head down to Southend at which you can check out the fleet and maybe pick up some serious seafood at the ideal price!
There's so much more to perform. Just ask as the natives that are optimistic and ready to steer you at the direction of the experience.
Where to stay
ON this event, and being at a motorhome, I chose to stay at the aptly called Beachport Caravan Park.
You wander across Beach Road, and you're literally on the shore.
The owner Stacey, runs a fantastic place with large powered sites, cabins and also camp websites. The park was heavily grassed when I was there and I was impressed.
Amenities include an excellent camp kitchen, clean toilets and laundry facilities that all make for a great experience. But this venue is just a hop, a skip and a jump to a lot of these attractions listed above. Really, the jetty, the jetty café, the bar, the foodmart, the historical buildings actually are just 3-5 minutes walk out of this place.
Limestone Coast -- a Superb area of Australia and Beachport is a great town in the Limestone Coast.
See you one day because... I'LL BE BACK.
